Eagles Scratch and Claw but come up Short.

Yesterday the Linden Eagles headed to New Boston Huron for a dual tournament. The Eagles started out with fire in the their bellies winning all three of their pool matches: Pool Matches 54-27 Howard City (W) 48-24 Lamphere (W) 50-12 Bedford (W) In the Semis the Eagles crosses over and wrestled D2 perennial tough Trenton. The match was a back and forth dual and the Eagles had several Chances to seal the match. Unfortunately points were left on the table in 3-4 matches and the Eagles came up short to Trenton 34-38. Trenton went on to win the tournament. In the 3rd/ 4th Place match the Eagles squared off against #9 (D2) New Boston Huron. Very close dual, a lot of good things and a lot of things to work on. The dual came down to the wire but the Eagles again came up short, 36-37. Coach Summerfield said, “Definitely left a bitter taste in my mouth. To compete with teams ranked in the state and having to void 3 weights today. Illness, academics transfers are all points of adversity we are facing first semester. Things we will overcome by January. The team wrestled tough today, but we have to finish matches and capitalize on points when their on the table. Today we came up short in a few of those swing matches. End of the year will be a different story. This team will be ready.” Eagles finished 4th on the day.
